Fuel

Fuel cards and purchases

Purchases come from the card issuer's statement. Each is checked against where the vehicle was:

  • Passed: the vehicle was at the pump.
  • Flagged: the vehicle was elsewhere (for example 21 km away), a duplicate, over the card's daily limit, or more than the tank took.

A flagged purchase → Approve or Reject. A rejection for card misuse raises a critical e-mail, for example [CRITICAL] Fuel misuse: 60 l for SAR 120.00 at Highway 40 station. An unknown card on the statement is refused with its line number.

Amounts keep each currency's decimals: a Kuwaiti dinar limit reads KWD 10.000.

Correct or void a purchase

  • Correct: a purchase entered by hand changes in full; one imported from the issuer changes only its vehicle, driver and odometer (the issuer's amounts stay). It is checked again from scratch.
  • Void with the reason (entered twice, a wrong statement). It stays on record for the audit and leaves the checks and totals. The Voided filter shows them.

Fuel tanks

The tracker reads the fuel level from the CAN bus, or from LLS fuel probes (litres, or counts turned into litres by the tank's calibration table; twin tanks summed). Readings are kept for 180 days.

Fuel → Fuel tanks: each measured vehicle's level, for example 364 of 600 l (61 %), its source and its last reading. A tank → the last 24 hours of its level.

Measure a tank (or Settings on a tank): the vehicle, Level from (CAN bus, LLS probe 1, 2, or 1 + 2), the tank in litres, the calibration (a probe value and litres a line), the smallest refuel and drain. A calibration that falls is refused.

Refuels and drains

At each stop the level before and after is compared:

  • a rise is a refuel;
  • a drop beyond what a standing engine burns (4 l an hour) is a drain: fuel taken out of a standing truck. It raises a critical fuel misuse alert and e-mail.

Refuels and drains lists them, each refuel matched to the card purchase it fits.

Card purchases against the tank

On a measured truck, each purchase is compared with the refuel the tank saw within 45 minutes. No refuel, or less in the tank than charged for (beyond 5 % and 5 l), is critical, for example 380.0 l bought, … l went into the tank: fuel put in a jerrycan or another vehicle on this truck's card.

The manager app shows a vehicle's fuel tank, its refuels and drains.
