Languages and theme
Six languages
Every app reads in English, العربية (Arabic), اردو (Urdu), हिन्दी (Hindi), മലയാളം (Malayalam) and বাংলা (Bangla).
- Arabic and Urdu read right to left: the menu, tables and cards mirror.
- Digits are Western (1, 2, 3) in every language, as plates and phone numbers are written across the GCC.
- Dates are Gregorian. Hijri dates can be shown beside them (below).
- Counts follow each language's plural forms. Arabic has six.
- Each script has its own typeface. Every figure is set in a monospaced face, one width per digit.
Arabic as each country writes it
Arabic is offered plain and as written in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and Egypt. The country changes the regional words and the date format; the rest stays the same Arabic.
| Language | A vehicle's registration reads |
|---|---|
| العربية | تسجيل المركبة |
| العربية (السعودية) | استمارة المركبة (Istimara) |
| العربية (الإمارات) | ملكية المركبة (Mulkiya) |
| العربية (الكويت) | دفتر المركبة |
| العربية (مصر) | رخصة المركبة |
Choose a language
- Console, driver, manager and partner apps: they open in the browser's or phone's language. Account menu → Language to choose another. The choice is kept on that device.
- Marketplace and the studios: the browser's language, or their own language menu in the topbar.
- These docs are in English and Arabic: the language menu at the top.
What is not translated
What people typed stays as entered: names, notes, references. What a service writes itself stays as sent: an alert's title, a rule's name, a gate check's detail, a device's answer.
Hijri dates
Saudi documents state their dates in the Hijri calendar as Saudi Arabia keeps it (Umm al-Qura).
- A Saudi organisation: the console takes a document's or a driver's dates in either calendar and shows both. Dates are kept Gregorian; the Hijri one is beside it, for example Ramadan 1, 1449 AH.
- Elsewhere in the GCC: Account menu → Calendar → Show dates in the Hijri calendar (Umm al-Qura) too. Kept in this browser.
- Drivers who read the app in Saudi Arabic see their documents' Hijri dates too.
- A day the month does not have is refused: That month has no such day in the Umm al-Qura calendar.
A browser or phone without Umm al-Qura calendar data shows the Gregorian date alone.
Light, auto or dark
- Console, marketplace, studios: the topbar → Light, Auto (the device's setting) or Dark.
- Phone apps: Account → Theme, kept on the phone.
The driver's signature pad stays white paper with dark ink in either theme, like the image it makes.
